Happy National Forensic Science Week!

President's Message - September/October

Our summer is coming to an end and our executive board are excited about meeting to discuss our potential membership growth later this month. Recently, members of our executive board attended the parent body training seminar conference in Reno, Nevada. It was an event filled week with high quality presentations from various professionals in multiple police/forensic disciplines. Presenters and vendors shared cutting edge forensic technology, case study reviews and provided informative workshops to attendees. The training seminar was a tremendous experience and beneficial to all attendees.

As we head into the fall season, please look for upcoming information on our training seminar - May 18-22, 2020 in Palm Springs, CA. Similar to the parent body conference, attendees will receive world renowned training in police and forensic disciplines. In addition to receiving training, members will have the opportunity to site see the beautiful and majestic Palm Springs city. The executive board is excited to return to this host city and we look forward to your attendance.

Students! Students! Students! As you return back to school, please apply for our William A. Snare scholarship if you meet the criteria. Being awarded this scholarship is a prestigious honor and will be highly beneficial to ones forensic and/or law enforcement career. Please take advantage by applying today to help support your career aspirations.

Listed below is the cover for the 2003 Training Seminar hosted by former President Marvin Spreyne.  The 2003 training seminar was hosted in Palm Springs California and is the current host site of our upcoming conference.  During the 2003 conference, our current Dean of the South, Douglas Coleman, was awarded the Pletts Award.  The Pletts Award recognized Coleman for his exceptional and lengthy service not only to the California State Division International Association for Identification but also his community and law enforcement profession.  Both Spreyne and Coleman are still heavily involved with the association in which the Executive Board is extremely grateful.

Nominations are solicited for this annual award to a California State Division International Association for Identification member who has demonstrated exceptional professional standard in their employment; provided service to their community; and demonstrated commitment and professionalism within CSDIAI through past and present service.  Nominations may be made by any member in good standing to the Resolutions Committee.
